What is elevateIT?

elevateIT is an extension of proven ZOPE/Plone content management systems and serves the requirements of large decentralized organizations and enterprises.

As it extends Zope and Plone, everything that's true for

is true for elevateIT, too.

The elevateIT content management functionalities facilitate complete web browser based creation and administration of information. Via portal functionality the users can interact with the system and other users and personalize contents and presentation.

elevateIT facilitates exchange of information between web servers. The goal is to provide relevant and latest information, which can be accessed across various web-sites. The metadata system and the personalization function facilitate aggregation, search and group specific information distribution even on voluminous websites.

One of the key features of elevateIT is multilingualism. The front end and the content can be presented in different languages. Translators are assisted thru workflows and helper applications to keep the language versions consistent.

elevateIT is platform neutral and can run parallel to existing information systems.

elevateIT is "Open Source" Software and is published under the GPL. (GPL Open Source License).

You can learn more about Open Source by reading What is Open Source?

A technical overview

elevateIT is an extension to the content management framework plone that works hand-in-hand and sits on top of Zope, a widely-used Open Source web application server and development system. It is helpful to know about Plone when you plan to use elevateIT. As elevateIT is an extension to Plone and no replacement, you don't have to learn yet another concept or paradigm. It is merely a collection of packages that are made to fit together to give you a quick and easy start into managing your content and sharing your information.

By default, elevateIT makes use of other products and techniques to share information with other sources, such as relational databases, LDAP, filesystem files, etc.

elevateIT runs - as Zope and Plone does - on Windows, Linux, BSD, Mac OS X, and many other platforms; easy click installers are in preparation for Windows and Mac OS X, and RPM packages will be available for Linux. For full information, see Download.
